  • Registrations of interest (ROI) now open for those in the Kimberley to obtain former Temporary Accommodation Unit modules
  • Businesses, individuals and government agencies all welcome to register their interest
  • ROI opens May 16 and closes 25 July 2025

Individuals and organisations operating in the Kimberley are encouraged to register their interest in obtaining a former Temporary Accommodation Unit (TAU) module for community use.

The registrations of interest (ROI) process will inform the State Government on community demand for the repurposing of 110 modules.

These modules provided temporary accommodation for residents affected by the 2023 Kimberley floods.

Organisations and individuals in the Kimberley have until 25 July 2025 to register their interest in the future use of any of the TAU modules, with preference given to those in the Fitzroy Valley.

The ROI process will inform the State Government's approach to the future usage of the modules.

Community members and businesses can register their interest at https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/department-of-communities/temporary-accommodation-unit-registration-of-interest or find out more by contacting KimberleyModulesROI@communities.wa.gov.au.

Comments attributed to Housing and Works Minister John Carey:

"The TAU modules ensured residents affected by the 2023 Kimberley flood were promptly rehomed on Country while the State Government repaired and rebuilt their damaged homes.

"We are pleased to see flood-impacted families living in the temporary accommodation returning to their long-term homes as their homes are completed.

"We're now inviting community to share their interest on how we can put these 110 modules to good use in the future and ensure they continue to provide benefits to the Kimberley, particularly in the Fitzroy Valley.

"Local business, sporting clubs, not-for-profits, local governments, State Government agencies and even individuals can register their interest, but priority consideration will be given to those serving the Fitzroy Valley."

Comments attributed to Community Services Minister Matthew Swinbourn:

"The strength and resolve of the Fitzroy Valley community was on display during the 2023 Kimberley floods.

"Through this ROI process, we're calling on communities across the Kimberley, including the Fitzroy Valley, to share their thoughts on how that strength and resilience can be built upon through the future use of the TAU modules."

Comments attributed to Kimberley MLA Divina D'Anna:

"The temporary accommodation units were vital in supporting the people in the Fitzroy Valley who were displaced by the devastating 2023 floods, and I am excited that the benefits these units provide will continue to be distributed throughout the Kimberley region for a variety of purposes.

"It is also uplifting that those residents who were so strongly affected by the floods are now rebuilding and relocating back to permanent homes again, in a show of true Kimberley resilience."
